Photosynthesis is Megan Nugent – a lover of biological relationships, riding bicycles, and sewing machines. Her inspiration comes from the natural elegance and symmetry of ferns combined with a keen eye for fashion and wearing rad clothes.

While in college, her time was spent conducting numerous independent studies on the ecology of ferns in addition to throwing bangin house parties. Inspired by her research and various life experiences, photosynthesis was born and the printing of ferns began.

As photosynthesis has grown and expanded, so has Megan’s love affair with leaves. Numerous species are added to the repertoire as they reveal themselves to her along walks, wanders, hikes, and bike rides. However, there is no doubt that ferns are still number one in her book.

Every single leaf used on photosynthesis pieces were chosen by Megan herself. Not to mention that each piece is hand printed, literally one leaf at a time. The nature of this highly developed printing technique allows for each item to be unique from the next even when carrying the same design. Needless to say, everything is made with lots and lots of fern love!
